Stainless Steel and Rust

304 stainless steel is generally known for its corrosion resistance, but it is not entirely immune to rust. Exposure to certain conditions can still lead to rusting. Factors that may contribute to rust on 304 stainless steel include:

  1. Chloride exposure: Salt and other chlorides may lead to pitting corrosion, especially in coastal or marine environments.

  2. Harsh environments: Exposure to harsh chemicals, acids, or extreme environmental conditions may affect the material.

  3. Scratches and surface damage: Scratches may expose the surface to corrosive elements.

Care Recommendations for 304 Stainless Steel

  1. Clean periodically using mild detergents and a soft cloth or sponge.

  2. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals or acids, and clean the surface promptly if contact occurs.

  3. Minimize chloride exposure, especially in coastal areas, by rinsing off salt deposits regularly.

  4. When appropriate, use protective coatings suitable for stainless steel.

If rust becomes visible, possible removal methods include:

  1. Mechanical cleaning using a nylon brush, abrasive pad, or sandpaper, always following the stainless steel grain.

  2. Chemical cleaning using mild acids such as citric acid or vinegar, followed by thorough rinsing.

  3. Commercial stainless steel cleaners intended for rust removal.

After rust removal, the stainless steel surface should be cleaned and passivated to help restore corrosion resistance. For all methods above, always consult a professional or qualified personnel to avoid damaging the product.

Cold Roll Steel and Rust

Our SI models, like any grills made from cold-rolled steel, are prone to rusting, especially in areas exposed to the highest heat, such as the firebox. This issue is more common in regions with high humidity.

To help preserve the grill, we recommend periodically sanding affected areas with fine sandpaper and applying a high-temperature, rust-preventive paint.

Important Maintenance Note

Due to transport, relocation, repositioning, or normal use, screws may loosen over time. To ensure proper operation and safety, it is important to keep all screws tight.

Keeping screws tight is important for:

  • Safety

  • Proper functioning

  • Structural integrity

  • Long-term performance

  • Reducing noise and wear

  • Maintaining the appearance of the grill

For convenience, a specially designed hex key is provided with the product.

 

 

Limited Warranty Terms

Unless otherwise stated below, the following terms apply to the limited warranties listed on this page:

Tagwood BBQ warrants these products against defects in materials and/or manufacturing for the applicable warranty period starting from the date of the purchase invoice.

This limited warranty does not cover products that are:

  • improperly used,

  • abused,

  • altered,

  • repaired by unauthorized personnel,

  • improperly assembled,

  • improperly maintained,

  • damaged by corrosive agents,

  • subjected to excessive load,

  • used contrary to the instruction manual,

  • used for commercial, rental, or contract trade purposes.

This warranty also does not cover:

  • normal wear and tear,

  • buyer’s remorse,

  • rust,

  • corrosion,

  • scratches,

  • oxidation,

  • dents,

  • discoloration caused by heat,

  • incidental or consequential damages.

The limited warranty covers manufacturing, material, and parts defects, subject to verification by authorized technicians.

Defective products or parts covered by this policy will be repaired or replaced. This warranty is non-transferable and valid only with the presentation of the purchase invoice.

Tagwood BBQ reserves the right to inspect and assess the product before honoring the warranty and may invalidate the warranty if it determines that the claim is not valid.

Tagwood BBQ will cover the shipping charges for the delivery of warranted parts. Labor costs and any other expenses related to the re-installation of a warranted part are not covered by this warranty.

Warning: Some discoloration may occur on certain parts of the grill due to extreme heat. This is considered normal wear and tear and is not covered.

The importer assumes no responsibility for personal or property damage caused by improper installation, improper use, or lack of maintenance.

How to Submit a Warranty Claim

For 5-Year and 3-Year Warranty Models

  1. Take a picture of the damaged part.

  2. Take a picture of the invoice.

  3. Locate the serial number under the table.

  4. Email the damaged part photo, invoice photo, and serial number to info@tagwoodbbq.com with the subject line “Warranty”.

  5. Please include a phone number where we can contact you.

  6. We will contact you within 48 hours to explain how to proceed.

For BBQ03SI and 1-Year Warranty Models

  1. Take a picture of the damaged part.

  2. Take a picture of the invoice.

  3. Locate the serial number under the table.

  4. Email both pictures to info@tagwoodbbq.com with the subject line “Warranty”.
